BDP have supplied new powered roller conveyors, caster decks and right angle transfer decks along with a new PLC control system (designed and built in-house). Working with WFS's incumbent support team, BDP were able to integrate this system with existing equipment with minimal disruption to the operation! Now that this new equipment can interface with the recently upgraded (by BDP) elevating transfer vehicle, the Customer and their respective Clients are already benefiting from increased throughput and reliability.
Due to obsolescence, ASC's Heathrow operation was exposed, and reliability under threat. Using our trademark controlled approach to upgrades, BDP have systematically upgraded each element of the handling system's PLC controls. Care was taken to minimise the disruption to the operation throughout these works. The facility now benefits from upgraded PLC controls for the powered conveyor lane, the airside truck dock systems, warehouse systems and elevating transfer vehicle. The improvement in throughput and reliability is already evident!
Due to new handling contracts WFS realised that their aging elevating transfer vehicle system was in need of an upgrade. BDP were appointed to carry out a full control system upgrade to their Export ETV. This was done to eliminate obsolete components, and improve reliability. Due to ever changing demands, IAG Cargo have contracted BDP to design and supply a new Low-level (208mm high) caster decking area, complete with 3 build/break spurs and integrated 10ft weigh-scale. The challenge was to provide a solution to the Customer's requirement to have this low level system interfacing with their existing system, operating at a height of 508mm. HOWEVER there was to be no possibility to construct a pit, which would have been required for traditional lifting systems. BDP, therefore, provided a surface mounted lift, capable of lifting 10ft pallets (up to 6,800KG) from 208mm to 508mm. This hydraulic ULD lift system allows easy interfacing with original (508mm high) system, WITHOUT the need for expensive pit construction!
